Life is busy. What is one of the first things you do in the morning when you wake up, after breakfast? You guessed it right, you get dressed. But it can take a good 10 minutes to decide what to wear in the morning. So read on to make your morning a little easier with these four steps to building the perfect capsule wardrobe.
Make Your Capsule Wardrobe Fit Each Season
Depending on your geographics, you may need more than one capsule wardrobe. So, build your capsule closet based on your current climate. Cardigans are a must-have for any season, especially if you work in an office that seems colder than the arctic.
Keep It Simple with Neutrals
Neutral colors will always go together. Mix and match beige, gray, navy and black. Those four colors will give you the most variety when it comes to mixing and matching your colors.
Simplify the Number of Pieces
This is typically the hardest step for anyone to achieve. If you want to capsule your wardrobe, you have to be prepared to cut down on your number of pieces. Some say 30 is a good starting number, but you can work up or down from there depending on your style.
Get Creative with Layers
Layers are the key to a good capsule wardrobe. Choose a solid button-up denim shirt over a grey t-shirt one day. Wear a black turtleneck and wrap that denim t-shirt around your waist the next. The layers distract people from noticing if you have worn a piece recently. If someone does catch-on, most likely they will want to know how they can start their own capsule wardrobe.
With a little planning and a little purging, you will be spending more time with the family and less time in front of the closet.
